Remaking Aye Yar Riverview Hotel

1 December 2007 - OLD BAGAN, Myanmar, The Aye Yar Hotel is undergoing a makeover that will create an Aye Yar Riverview Resort offering a rejuvenated experience for our guests. From a newly upgraded lobby echoing an old Bagan atmosphere, to revived guestrooms and public areas, it’s a refresh of the entire Resort - redefining resort experience in Bagan.

Located in the heart of Old Bagan, this sprawling resort sits on the banks of one of the world's legendary rivers – The Aye Yarwaddy. With the addition of a new Sittaung Wing and renovations to existing guestrooms and suites, The Mekhong Restaurant & Bar and the Indawgyi Spa and Pool, the resort is pioneering a new trend of rejuvenating hotels in Myanmar. Here's what is taking this resort to the next level:

Guest Rooms:

• Current inventory of 52 guest rooms and suites are in the midst of a face-lift and will be joined by another 32 Sittaung deluxe rooms fronting either the swimming pool and garden or the majestic pagodas in the Bagan plains and 18 Grand Premier rooms fronting Aye Yarwaddy river. Decor will be classic contemporary with overtones of ancient Bagan culture.

The Mekhong Bar and Restaurant:

• Unveiling early 2008, The Mekhong, as the name suggests, is a confluence of Myanmar, Thai and Chinese cuisines. Complementing the menus, the newly redesigned open space dining room reflects the culture and heritage of ancient Bagan.

Indawgyi Spa/Pool:

• In mid 2008, The Aye Yar Riverview will open a free-form swimming pool and a spectacular 2,000 square foot, four treatment room Spa providing a harmonious blend of elegance, indulgence and relaxation. Amenities include Steam & Sauna Rooms, Jacuzzis, and a separate lounge to rest and re-hydrate.

To improve and maintain market appeal, The Aye Yar Riverview will be reflagged and rebranded following the physical transformation. Rebranding would be an important step in the process of tying the resort more closely to the destination – Aye Yarwaddy River and Old Bagan. Expected to be completed in the 3rd quarter 2008, the resort makeover and expansion will have the intended result of Aye Yar Riverview repositioned as an upscale resort with the distinctive atmosphere of old Bagan and the riverside charm.
